I was excited when an application for a business loan came to my desk from New Beginnings Word of Faith Ministries. As the Administrator of and the loan officer for Southern Mutual Financial Services, Inc. (SMFS), this was a day of immense joy.
Wow, a woman pastor with a small congregation, in which women are in the majority, wanted to buy this special building. Little did they know what I knew. The Community Development Center was built by the parent company, Southern Mutual Help Association (SMHA) and volunteers from the American Jewish Society for leadership development and training and, the women of the community that helped build the facility in 1992.
The 17th day of August 2017 was a momentous day for SMFS and New Beginnings Word of Faith Ministries – IT WAS LOAN CLOSING DAY! All I could think about is how the women of our little community will still have a place for gathering and for their voices to be heard.
Pastor Valarie Rhine said the need in the community is great and she wants New Beginnings to be a leader in giving back to the community through its Help Mission.
